18. No Rope? Use Candy.

“What’s wrong?!” I burst into the kitchen, gripping a crowbar in both hands.

Cassie and Orion turned around then stared with their mouths practically falling off their faces when they saw the crowbar. “Where did you get that?” Cassie managed to blurt out.

“Oh…um…” I stared at the crowbar in my hands. “Y’know, I really don’t know.” I laughed.

“We don’t even have those here!” she flailed her arms dramatically.

“Yeah, well, why’d you guys scream?” I asked, the moment suddenly felt a tad bit awkward.

“You know the rumors of a mass murderer?” Orion said.

“Uh… yeah?”

“They were true, apparently.” He stared down at the floor in front of me; a guy that looked like he jumped out of a horror movie was lying there. You couldn’t really see his face or anything since he was all bundled up in dirt covered clothes, and he’d been lugging around a bloody axe that now lay next to him.

“Well,” I crouched down and rolled him over with the crowbar, “why’s he on the ground?”

“Cassie hit him.” Orion grinned.

“With what?” I cocked my head to the side while staring down at the guy, it looked like he was just knocked unconscious, but I didn’t know for sure and I wasn’t about to touch him.

“Uh.” She held up her now-bent spoon that she had been eating cereal with earlier.

“You hit him…with a spoon?” I stared disbelievingly at her.

“Yes?” she fidgeted nervously.

“A serial killer shows up and you hit him with a sugar covered spoon?”

“Uh-huh.”

“Well, gosh. You could’ve at least cleaned it first. Now bees will go after him or something. So is he just unconscious?”

“I think so.” Orion now stood next to me, staring down at the guy.

“Alright. Do we have any rope to tie him up with?” I asked, gingerly plucking the axe off the ground and putting it in the sink.

“I have super long twizzlers.” Cassie said.

“No. I’m eating those later, we need rope. Or at least a candy thing none of us like.”

“You two are unbelievable.” Orion shook his head and pulled out some plain rope from the closet next to the front door. He held the rope out to me.

“What?” I squinted at it as if I’d never seen anything like it before.

“Tie him up?” he said questionably.

“You do it, he’s covered in dirt. Besides, you’re the guy.”

“Whatever.” He grunted as he flipped the body over and started tying it up.

“Hey, Orion?”

“Yeah?”

“Can we go for ice cream after this?”
